Round medallion in Lorraine clay with commemorative low relief decoration of the profiles of the Duke of Enghien and the Duke of Bourbon. The headband topped by a fleur-de-lys and flanked by the palms of the martyr (minor missing). 19th century. Diameter : 30 cm (at sight) On the back, an explanatory note compares the suspicious death of Monseigneur Henri Joseph de Bourbon-Condé, found hanged in the castle of St-Leu, with the political execution of his son, the young duke of Enghien, in the moat of Vincennes. This commemorative and political medallion was commissioned in 1844 by the Marquis de Villette, former Honorary Squire of H.R.H. the Duke of Bourbon as a sign of deep and respectful devotion.
