[COUTUMES / MANUSCRIT] " Coustumes generalles des pays et duche de bretaigne nouuellement resformees et publiees en la ville de nantes en la congregation et assemblee des troys estatz dud[it] pays au moys doctobre lan mil cinq cens trante neuf [...] " Calligraphic manuscript from the first half of the 16th century in a folio volume (255 x 360 mm), calf, boards entirely decorated with a gilt and cold framing, fleuron at the corners and in the center, traces of lakes, spine decorated with fleurons and small gilt ermines at the head and foot, gilt edges (contemporary binding attributable to Étienne Roffet, bookbinder to the king?). 166 ff. of ruled parchment. New redaction of the customs of Brittany as it was published for the first time the following year (1540) in Nantes and Rennes (Brunet, II, 366, for this edition). Some very fine restorations to the binding, but AN EXCEPTIONAL MANUSCRIPT COPY ON VELLUM SKIN AND IN AN ORNATE CONTEMPORARY BINDING OF THIS FAMOUS CUSTOMARY.
