Bronze woman representing the goddess Turan, wearing a long dress and shoes with pointed ends and an ornate pointed bun. The details are rendered with incisions. Height 8.5 cm high Etruria, end of the 6th century B.C. Provenance : Collection of Mr. Paul A. (1899-1976), former director of the chalcography of the Louvre, founder then president of the Presses Universitaires de France from 1934 to 1968. Accompanied by a declaration on honor from the daughter-in-law of the collector confirming that the object comes from the collection of her father-in-law. Turan is the goddess of love, beauty, fertility and health in Etruscan mythology, like Aphrodite among the Greeks and Venus among the Romans.
