Piece of furniture (handle of oenochoe?) in bronze representing a woman adorned, half-naked, feet and elbow resting on an Ionian capital. Roman period, 2nd century. Height Height : 15,5 cm Base of yellow marble of Siena. Provenance : Collection of Mr. Paul A. (1899-1976), former director of the chalcography of the Louvre, founder then president of the Presses Universitaires de France from 1934 to 1968. Noted "ach. 1950, oenochoe handle showing a half-naked hetaera, leaning against the wall, Greek art, 4th-3rd century B.C. (reign of Berenice II)" on a handwritten slip. Accompanied by a declaration on honor of the daughter-in-law of the collector confirming that the object comes from the collection of her father-in-law.
