Stylized figure of a hoplite in bronze, represented in the attitude of walking and wearing a crested helmet (missing arms and legs). Etruria, 5th century B.C. Height Height : 6,5 cm Yellow marble base from Siena. Provenance : Collection of Mr. Paul A. (1899-1976), former director of the chalcography of the Louvre, founder then president of the Presses Universitaires de France from 1934 to 1968. Noted "ach. 1950, walking hoplite, Greek art, 7th c. B.C." on a handwritten slip. Accompanied by a declaration on the honor of the daughter-in-law of the collector confirming that the object comes from the collection of her father-in-law.
