Clock called "L'Amérique" in chased, gilded and patinated bronze, an Amerindian huntress wearing headdress, loincloth, jewels, quiver, bow and spear, seated in front of a palm tree, the feet resting on an alligator (accidents). The circular white enamelled dial with Roman and Arabic numerals in black rests on a six-legged base applied with falling garlands of flowers and a frieze of pearls. Early 19th century. Height : 48 cm 48 cm - Width : 36 cm - Depth : 15 cm The original design of our clock was deposited by the bronzemaker Jean-Simon Deverberie in 1799 and is kept in the Cabinet des Estampes of the Bibliothèque Nationale. The model was a great success and many variants have come down to us, particularly in public collections: - Paul Dupuy Museum, Toulouse ; - Musée du Nouveau Monde, La Rochelle, inv. 1981.2.4; - François Duesberg Museum, Mons, Belgium.
