Louise HERVIEU (1878-1954). - Lot 237
Louise HERVIEU (1878-1954). Khmer Shiva, flowers and peacock feathers. Charcoal signed lower right. Height : 76 cm 76 cm - Width : 64,5 cm Label of the Gallery BERNHEIM-JEUNE, Homage to Louise HERVIEU, January 22 - February 17 1955. Provenance: Donation of Louise Hervieu's works to the Fondation Apprentis d'Auteuil at the closing of the Berheim-Jeune Gallery at the end of 2018 according to the wish expressed by Mr Gibert Gruet. Louise Hervieu is a multidisciplinary artist, who practices painting, drawing, illustration and writing. Charcoal is her favorite medium, which she works by scratching and scratching to contrast the dark black, the bright white and all their respective shades. She draws female nudes, still lifes, especially flowers, and landscapes. In drawing, she draws from her suffering and vulnerability, but also from her sensitivity and imagination, to retranscribe an emotion that is sometimes tragic, strange, dramatic, amorous, and always deeply lyrical. Sale for the benefit of the Fondation Apprentis d'Auteuil.
