Boulle marquetry clock and base in brown tortoiseshell and brass fillet forming scrolls, richly decorated with chased and gilded bronzes such as caryatids topped with pot-à-feu, horses forming feet, acanthus, shells, scrolls, masks and figures of Venus and Urania. Circular dial with twelve white enameled plates with blue Roman numerals and nameplate signed "Balthazar Martinot A Paris" (case fitted, missing and lifted, movement modified). Louis XIV period for the movement. Height : 72 cm - Width : 48 - Depth : 26 cm Note : Balthazar II Martinot, son of Balthazar I Martinot, master clockmaker in Rouen. He used cases by André-Charles Boulle and Jean-Michel Ziegler, among others. His clientele included the Grand Dauphin, the King of Siam and the Dukes of Aumont, de La Trémoille and the Prince of Rohan.
