His often provocative and controversial work explores themes of sexuality, consumer culture and the representation of women in society. His early works are figurative paintings and sculptures, often inspired by advertising and magazine imagery. However, it was in the 1970s that he gained international recognition with his anthropomorphic furniture sculptures, notably the "Hatstand, Table and Chair" series (1969). These works depict women reduced to objects, used as furniture. They provoked strong reactions and were seen by some as objectification of women. At the beginning of the 20th century, he created a series of small-format compositions dealing with the motif of the scene. Our work is part of this series in which Allen Jones pays homage to artists who influenced him, pioneers of modernism such as Robert Delaunay and Henri Matisse. He draws inspiration from their chromatic explorations and dynamic compositions to create vibrant, colorful works. Appraisal by Mr. Irénée BRUN - 01 42 60 45 45 - brun.perazzone@gmail.com
