Interesting correspondence relating to drawing lessons for the children of the Duke and Duchess of Chartes:
"I had waited to write to you until I had reorganized my children's lessons a little; I would be very happy if we could agree on two days a week; I had thought of Monday and Friday from 2 to 3.30 if that was possible for you. I want lessons to take place during the day, and mornings are a bit inconvenient now [...]. Marie could paint while her little brother Henri [d'Orléans] starts drawing. Drawing is required now from the age of eight [...]". "[...] On my way to Paris, I found a charming watercolor that gave me the greatest pleasure. I can't tell you how touched I was by this kind thought [...] the children greatly miss your good lessons [...], etc.
