Small square in-4 (19.5 x 16 cm), title, 68 ff, [4], first edition of the German translation of the "secreta mulierum", also including passages from "De virtitus herbarum", "De animalibus", "De mineralibus" as well as several texts on aqua vitae, ways to prevent plague, bloodletting, the planets, illustrated with a title vignette featuring Adam and Eve surrounding a skeleton, a large printer's mark on the last leaf and 72 woodcuts by Jost Amman depicting childbirth scenes, fetuses, plants, animals and allegories of the 12 months.
Extremely rare edition, with title vignette enhanced in color.
Re-used full parchment binding, posterior smooth spine.

(Marginal restorations to the first 6 leaves and leaf 39, traces of wetness, rare wormholes including a larger one (2 cm) between leaves 13 to 32 affecting the text, leaves 48 and 49 interchanged with leaves 50 and 51, wear, small wormholes and small chips to the binding, spine completely redone, tear to the spine).
