He then decided to join the architecture workshop at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. After his studies, Chapo travels through Scandinavia and the United States. In Arizona, he was struck by the creations of Frank Lloyd Wright. On his return, he created his studio in Clamart and the Chapo Gallery in Paris, where his modernist wooden furniture rubbed shoulders with other designers such as Isamu Noguchi. In 1960, he participated in the Arts and Crafts exhibition, where he was awarded a gold medal. In 1967, Pierre Chapo designed the "S24" chair for his friend, Dr Hiroshi Nakajima, in oiled solid wood and leather stretched with rope braiding, thus combining minimalism, tradition and comforting warmth.
