He is delighted to see "that you still remember Moy and that you count on the fidelity of my attachment to you and on the high esteem in which I shall hold the superiority of your merit all my life. I will be happy to contribute to the satisfaction of the Abbot of the Beys; your recommendation alone praises his virtues. ...] I believe that a canonry of doctors requires degrees in theology or in law"; he will look out for the vacancy of a canonry and will take care of it "with all possible activity. Live happily and quietly in the retirement you have made for yourself, and if circumstances require it, never refuse to do so if France needs your superior talents and experience..." A L.A. by Bishop Jean-Siffrein Maury is attached to Mme Necker [de Stäel]; and a P.S. by a "Jean Jaques Rousseau", 1702, in German.
