*Charles Morgan (1894-1958) British writer. Signed autograph POEM, Final Retrospect, June 1951; 1 page in-4; in English. Nostalgic poem of 5 quatrains : "When I was young, all lives but mine Were windows in a house of stone, From which interior light did shine On me, outside, alone. "»... A marginal note in red ink explains that these unpublished verses are part of the novel A Breeze of Morning which is due to be published in October in London and New York, and in Paris when the translation is done. The author specifies that this manuscript is being offered to the Director of Fine Arts for an autograph sale. The novel La Brise du matin was published in 1952 by Stock. Enclosed is another manuscript a.s., beginning of the 1st chapter (A Lesson under the Elm) of a novel still untitled, with erasures and corrections, given for the same occasion (2 p. in-fol.); plus an L.A.S. to G.
