LALANNE François-Xavier (1927-2008) and Cristallerie... - Lot 162 - Le Floc'h
LALANNE François-Xavier (1927-2008) and Cristallerie DAUM. Decanter piriform in clear blown crystal and truncated cone-shaped cork holder in cut crystal. Signed at the point. The stopper sculpture out of engraved and gilded bronze represents a sheep upright. Monogrammed FXL on the base and stamped Daum France on the back. Height of the carafe : 35,7 cm - Height of the stopper : 7,3 cm - Height of the support : 4 cm In 1982, Baron Philippe de Rothschild, through his company Baron Philippe de Rothschild S.A., then called "La Bergerie", succeeded in bringing together the sculptor François-Xavier Lalanne and the Daum crystal works so that they could work together to create the exceptional decanter shown here. This piece was then edited in only twenty copies intended to reward some of the most faithful customers of the Domaine Château Mouton Rothschild at the time of Saint-Vincent, the wine growers' day, on January 22, 1983 during a draw. Source: Mr. Armand Lalu, archivist of the Baron Philippe de Rothschild Company. This exceptional decanter is part of the close and continuous link that the First Grand Cru Classé in 1855 Château Mouton Rothschild has always had with art in general and contemporary artists in particular, as evidenced by its annually renewed illustrated labels.
