Paul Théodore FRANKL (1886-1958). Sofa with flat back and wide trapezoidal arms "Bretzel" model 3436, with three seats, convertible into a two-seater sofa and a chaise longue. Structure in steamed rattan, curved and tied with rattan strips. Cushions covered with a cotton and silk fabric with floral pattern. Around 1960. Height : 80 cm 80 cm - Width : 202 cm - Depth : 93 cm Viennese architect and designer, Paul T. Frankl settled in New York - and was inspired by skyscrapers -, then in Los Angeles, and contributed to American modernism. He innovates in the conception of forms and in the choice of materials, using cork veneer, metal or steamed and curved rattan. His rattan furniture is published in Japan by the firm Tochiku MFG. CO. LTD. for an international clientele.
